Small Business Marketing Expert | Wise Words
When working with Small Busineses on their Marketing I often get asked how?
How did I find out all of the information and how I manage to make sense of amount of information out there, with the internet and books and seminars and and and. So let me explain in some more detail.
Internet Marketing and more importantly making Internet Marketing work for any business is a clearly defined process, like making a Cake, but not like cooking Sunday Lunch. For those of you that understand baking a Cake you will know that a little bit too much of one ingredient, or the heat in the oven is too low or high and your Cake recipe will not work.
However over do the salt in your Yorkshire Pudding or your Carrots and you will still have a Sunday Lunch.
Your Internet Marketing and your Conventional Marketing is and should be part of a clearly defined process. Once you have found a process that works simply do more of that, is it that simple? Probably not but it is a good start. You must however focus on the Cake and not the Sunday Lunch.
I came across this comment from Perry Marshall a few days ago and It was worth repeating it. The link to the original article is below. I have put my own comment in to give it some UK appeal.
…on being wise by P Marshall.
I don’t know that anyone can just sit down and teach you to be wise. You can’t go to a seminar and acquire this vital 21st century skill in an exciting, star-studded weekend getaway. However, you can:
- Become aware of the distinction and begin thinking about it and noticing it – because vital lessons are literally everywhere in your life, quietly shouting to you to be noticed and absorbed.
- Associate with wise people, and distance yourself from people who always seem to be screwing up their life with bad decisions. You can’t fix them anyway.
- Seek and accept sound advice, even when it’s uncomfortable, negative or embarrassing.
- Disregard the raucous shouting, the flattery and surface level buzz, and tune into the quiet, calm voice of reason.
- Watch the Jerry Springer (Jeremy Kyle in the UK) show, pen and paper in hand. Write down every mannerism, expression, motive and impulse you observe, and… expunge those habits from your life.
Oh, and every business you see advertising on Jerry Springer, make sure you’re never in a position to need to patronize. And then… don’t ever watch Jerry Springer again, or hang out in places like your local Laundromat where it’s on all the time.
I have posted a vidoe below, please do the excerise, please feel free to contact me when you want to discuss it.
